Crue, CSIC and Wiley join forces to boost open access to publications for researchers in Spain

14 April 2021.

The Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (Crue, by its acronym in Spanish), of which the International University of La Rioja (UNIR, by its acronym in Spanish) is a member, and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC, by its acronym in Spanish) have signed a one-year agreement with the publishing house Wiley, which will boost the increase of open access publications.

The CSIC and Crue will bring together an estimated 200,000 researchers from all over Spain who will have access to Wiley’s journals and will be eligible to publish articles that are accepted in the publisher’s open access hybrid journals.

It has been estimated that 70% of the articles to be published in 2021 by the institutions participating in this agreement will be open access, which will increase the number of research papers from leading Spanish institutions that will be read, cited and developed, thus promoting the further development and dissemination of science.
