International Day of Women and Girls in Science

We are pleased to inform you about the upcoming International Day of Women and Girls in Science on Monday 11 February.

You will recall that in the UN General Assembly Resolution that established the observance of this day (http://undocs.org/A/RES/70/212), UNESCO has been invited to co-lead its celebration together with UN-Women.

International Day of Women and Girls in Science

This year our celebrations at HQ will be developed around an interactive laboratory for students. Through hands-on scientific experiments and the mobilization of remarkable female scientists, we count to engage and sensitize more than 200 young participants and make them ambassadors of this cause among their peers. We have called upon our field office directors to implement similar events and activities to observe this day, and to raise awareness in their countries on the importance to invest on women scientists.
