Project: TESLA (Teacher Support Learning Analytics)
A university degree is composed of a large number of subjects, each one with the participation of a different teacher and differences in content and job requirements. In these circumstances, the teacher works independently, but always coordinated with the academic direction of the degree. It is, therefore, the academic direction, which establishes a common approach to be followed by all teachers, giving homogeneity to the degree.
This coordination work is usually done through email communications or faculty meetings, which academic direction and discussion exposes criteria, and teachers apply at their discretion. This working method makes it difficult to transfer the coordination to everyday teacher.
The TESLA project proposes a control panel for teachers who, besides of allowing them to monitor the activity of their students in a simple and centralized way, it enable them to receive recommendations for their teaching job. For example, the system may remind the teacher the date of the next installment or recommend him to participate in the forums. All these recommendations will be modulated by the criteria of academic coordination.
The feedback provided by the system is not limited to the individual actions of each teacher, but will provide an overview of the situation regarding the teaching-research group.
The system will also integrate recommendations on faculty research, so that enable monitoring of the activities based on objectives and resources previously defined. This application will allow for both intra-Research Groups better coordination and better communication of results inter-Research Groups.
Sharing of results and comparison with other team members of teaching and research work is an Added value to TESLA panel control. Thus the feedback provided by the system is not limited to the individual actions of each teacher, but will provide an overview of the situation regarding the teaching-research group. gamificación process aimed at better motivation when facing activities thus enabled.
The panel of teacher-researcher Control foster communication between individuals and promote better coordination of teacher and researcher, equipment thus increasing individual and collective performance.
