Project FABLE: Training Faculty on Blended Learning
The Research Institute for Innovation & Technology in Education (UNIR iTED) participates in the European Project ‘Training Faculty on Blended Learning’, started on 1st March 2021.
The project budget amounts to 300,000 euros approximately, and it is financed by the call KA226, Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education – Digital Education Readiness, from Erasmus+ programme. It constitutes an extraordinary call created in the frame of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, aiming to equip education and training systems to face the challenges presented by the recent sudden shift to online and distance learning.
Having a duration of 2 years, the project is coordinated by the French Business School IPAG. In addition, it counts with the participation of four different European universities and two companies specialized in entrepreneurship and innovation.
FABLE has as its aim to help higher education teaching staffs to design and implement blended learning while fully exploiting the advantages offered by this approach consisting of combining face-to-face teaching, live videoconferencing courses, online accessible recorded courses, micro-learning, and online self-training.
To reach this overall goal, the project will pursue and achieve the following objectives:
- Creating a knowledge bank, to better identify the needs and expectations of students and trainees on the one side, professors, educators and trainers on the other side, regarding blended learning and training on blended learning.
- Conceive and test a methodology to transform in-class courses into blended learning ones exploiting the benefits brought by this form of teaching, including a guide to distance learning tools.
- Design, develop and implement a tool aimed at training faculty on blended training so to help them design courses for blended learning.
- Issue a white paper for education systems to help them steer the digital transformation of their teaching through effective performance indicators.
UNIR contributes to FABLE with its expertise and knowledge in the technology field, as the leader of the online training platform, and collaborating in the other tasks of the project
