EDNEL Project: Espacio de Datos para la Nueva Economía de la Lengua

In recent years, the growth of Artificial Intelligence has demonstrated the strategic importance of data, particularly in the field of linguistics as it can serve as basis for digital innovation and development.

The EDNEL project, “Espacio de Datos para la Nueva Economía de la Lengua” emerges as a strategic initiative to boost the use of the Spanish language in the field of Artificial Intelligence and make the most of the value of linguistic data in a way that is safe and collaborative.

The project will develop a data space that will be called “Espacio de Datos Valle de la Lengua” in which administrations, universities and companies can share and use linguistic data in a safe way, always keeping control.

The project enables the organization, connection and reuse of linguistic data (texts, audios and digital resources) to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence, improve information retrieval mechanisms and generate new services based on Spanish.

All of this takes place in an interoperable environment aligned with European standards, guaranteeing security, privacy and trust among participants, and promoting cross-sector collaboration to boost the data economy and innovation in language technologies.

The project is co-funded by the Next Generation funds, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Government of La Rioja.

The project is carried by the Research Institute UNIR iTED, who is responsible for the project’s theoretical framework and the gathering and compilation of audio files for processing.
