CanGoNano project: A training network on glyconanomaterials as precision tools to unveil key insights on the triggering of the antigen presenting cells against cancer
CanGoNano is a 4-years European Training Network funded by HORIZON Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks (MSCA-DN). It focuses on how glyconanomaterials (GNM), using antigenic peptides and mRNAs as putative tumoral antigens in novel immunotherapies, can work as precision tools to activate those cells that initiate immune responses (e.g., as the antigen presenting cells – APC).
CanGoNano will recruit 14 Doctoral Candidates (DCs), providing them with a deep understanding of multidisciplinary knowledge on the potential of glycoscience in cancer immunotherapy, as well as the necessary transferable skills. Moreover, it will provide them with an international, intersectoral and interdisciplinary educational program, following the EU Principles for Innovative Doctoral Training. This will put DCs in an advantageous position for job opportunities in both academia and industry.
Interpreting the glycome expands the frontiers of knowledge and discovery and enables researchers to adress fundamental challenges in cancer. Therefore, CanGoNano will strengthen the European innovation capacity by bringing new glycoscience concepts in the development of cancer precision therapeutics to market and policy stakeholders.
In particular, Universidad Internacional de La Rioja (UNIR) will recruit 1 DC to develop an innovative research project focused on the use of glyconanomaterials for the delivery of peptide antigens or mRNA in breast cancer models. This DC will have the opportunity to work at the forefront of glyconanotechnology to fill gaps in cancer immunotherapy, while benefiting from tailored training and international secondments across the consortium.
