CCSS-05: Cultures, religions and Human Rights
The main objective of this Research Group is to analyse the evolution of legal aspects regarding the developing cultural and religious pluralism of the occidental society. This phenomenon has considerably increased during the last twenty years due to the rising migratory flows, as well as to the changes in life patterns and cultural approaches.

As a consequence of the growing cultural, ethical and religious pluralism of the society, not only in Spain, but also in the rest of Western Europe, a number of societal challenges have arisen, that, in many cases, have contributed to the removal of solid legal structures. As result of all these processes, the rethinking of legal institutions is needed in order to respond to new situations. The Group intends, on the one hand, to explore legal responses to cultural and religious diversity that allow the respect of Human Rights; and, on the other hand, analyse the socio-ethical foundations upon which democratic Nations – including Spain – are based.
